Summer Break Extended in Patna Schools Until June 19 for Classes Up to 8th Grade

The District Magistrate of Patna, Shirsat Kapil Ashok, has issued an order under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. The order prohibits all educational activities up to class 8 in both governmental and private education institutes of Patna district. However, the teaching and non-teaching staff are instructed to remain in the school and continue their services. The order cites the prevalent heat waves and high temperatures predicted by IMD in the district as the reasons for the decision.

The health and life of students are deemed to be at risk, prompting the issuance of the order. The order specifies that it will come into force from 18-06-2024 and remain effective until 19-06-2024. According to the latest data from the Regional Meteorological Centre of Patna, severe heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in the city for the next two days.
