UGC-NET Exam Aspirants Accuse Paper Leak, Exam Cancelled Next Day admin, June 20, 2024 The Education ministry announced that the June exam of the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) has been canceled due to concerns about the integrity of the examination. According to students at Lucknow University, the Paper-1 of the exam was leaked and being sold through WhatsApp and Telegram groups. They raised the issue online, but the UGC did not take any action, leading to discontent among the students. Over nine lakh candidates appeared for the UGC-NET exam on Tuesday but were not provided with a carbon copy of the OMR sheet. This led to frustration among the students as they felt that having a carbon copy would have allowed them to challenge the exam results. Students expressed the psychological pressure they face as their families expect them to start earning at their age. The cancellation of the exam and issues of leaked papers have left them uncertain about their career prospects. Furthermore, students highlighted the challenges they face, including traveling long distances to reach exam centers and dealing with extreme summer heat. This situation exacerbates their frustration and disappointment when they later discover that their efforts were in vain due to the cancellation of the exam. The National Testing Agency, responsible for conducting the UGC-NET, is already facing controversy over irregularities in the NEET medical entrance exams. This includes allegations of a paper leak and the subsequent awarding and later scrapping of grace marks for over 1,500 aspirants. The NEET row has become further complicated with the admission of four men in Bihar admitting their role in the paper leak case. UGC-NET
