Floods in Assam affect nearly 400,000 people, with death toll rising to 37.

The flood situation in the state has caused damage to houses, cattle sheds, roads, and bridges in various districts. While there has been a slight improvement in some parts of the state due to receding rainfall, 19 districts still remain affected by the flooding. As a result of this year’s flood, landslides, and storms, the death toll has reached 37, with one person reported missing. According to officials, a total of 3,90,491 people have been affected in several districts including Kamrup, Tamulpur, Hailakandi, Udalguri, Hojai, Dhubri, Barpeta, and others.

The number of affected individuals has decreased slightly from the previous day, but the number of flood-hit districts remains the same. Karimganj district has been severely affected, with over 2.40 lakh people impacted. Major rivers such as Kopili at Kampur and Dharamtul, Barak at BP Ghat, and Kushiyara in Karimganj are flowing over the danger level. Relief efforts have been mobilized, with more than 100 relief camps providing shelter for over 15,000 people and an additional 125 relief distribution centers operating.
