Bihar to Transfer NEET Exam Irregularities Case to CBI admin, June 23, 2024 The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation of alleged irregularities in the NEET UG examination held on May 5, 2024. According to Economic Offences Unit (EOU) DIG, Nayyar Hasnain Khan, special teams are being sent to Patna in Bihar, and Godhra in Gujarat, to investigate the matter. The EOU official stated that the Bihar government has issued a notification to allow the CBI to investigate the case related to the irregularities in the NEET UG examination. The CBI is expected to arrive in Patna soon to take over the investigation, and the EOU will hand over all updated case records to CBI. The CBI has formed special teams to investigate the alleged irregularities and has been entrusted with the matter for a comprehensive investigation by the central government. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET (UG) Examination on May 5, 2024, and certain cases of irregularities, cheating, impersonation, and malpractices have been reported. The Central Government has also enacted the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, to prevent unfair means in public examinations. It is committed to ensuring the sanctity of examinations and protecting the interests of students, and has warned of strict action against any individual or organization found to be involved in irregularities. The NTA, which conducted the NEET-UG exams, is facing criticism over the alleged irregularities, leading to protests and demands from various quarters for the disbandment of the NTA. An unprecedented 67 candidates achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720, adding to the concerns. NEET UG Examination Irregularities
