CBI Investigating Attack on Team Probing Alleged UGC-NET Paper Leak in Bihar Village admin, June 23, 2024 The local police reported that the villagers mistook the team for imposters, leading to a case being filed against around 200 people, with only eight individuals being identified so far. Cellphone footage of the assault is aiding in the identification process, resulting in the arrest of four persons. The team, comprised of four officials and a female constable, was attacked in Kasiyadih village while searching for a person whose cellphone they were tracking. The officials were rescued by the local police after the attack. The villagers beat up the team, accusing them of being fake, and also damaged their vehicles. Subsequently, the team called in the local police for assistance, who managed to pacify the villagers. The team then carried out their investigation with the local police present. Two cellphones were seized based on their locations, and the CBI officials indicated that individuals involved in the paper leak would be apprehended following an examination of the phones’ contents. The UGC-NET exam, which provides a pathway for students to pursue careers in teaching at higher education institutions, was canceled due to suspected paper leak and compromised exam integrity.
