Tragic Dwarka House Fire Claims Lives of 4 Family Members due to Short Circuit admin, June 25, 2024 An investigation is ongoing, according to the police. A Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official stated that they were notified about the fire at around 3:30 am, and two fire tenders were dispatched to the location. The victims, identified as Heera Singh Kakkar (48), his wife Neetu (40), and their sons Robin (22) and Lakshay (21), were residents of the house. Kakkar worked as a photographer, and the house was owned by the family, as confirmed by the police. Reportedly, the fire originated on the first floor from an inverter and quickly spread to an adjacent sofa, leading to the inhalation of smoke by the victims. Firefighters had to cut through a locked iron gate to gain access to the house, which slowed down their operation, as highlighted by officials from the police and fire department. Although the flames were extinguished within minutes, there was a significant amount of smoke inside the house, as per the DFS official. The victims were declared dead by doctors at the Rao Tularam Memorial Hospital, where they were taken for treatment. Kakkar’s mother, Sita Devi, who was sleeping on the ground floor, remained unharmed. The bodies were moved to a mortuary for postmortem examination. The police noted that a case is being registered under relevant sections and further investigation is ongoing. Additionally, Delhi BJP general secretary and West Delhi MP, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, visited Prem Nagar to offer condolences and assistance to the bereaved family. Meanwhile, relatives of the family revealed that they heard noises from the house around 2:15 am. Kakkar’s brother, Gurmeet, had tried to open the locked gate upon hearing the commotion but was unsuccessful. He called for help from the police and fire bridge team, who arrived to find the family unconscious on the floor. A senior police officer mentioned that a short circuit in the inverter appears to be the initial cause of the fire. However, a conclusive reason will be determined following the completion of the investigation. The officer noted that inquest proceedings are being carried out, and a case may be registered based on the postmortem report or if any foul play is discovered. *(Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed. )* Delhi Fire Tragedy
