In an official statement, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that the Southwest Monsoon has advanced into the entire Delhi region. The Northern Limit of Monsoon passes through specific geographical coordinates, encompassing various cities including Jaisalmer, Churu, Bhiwani, Delhi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Kheri, Moradabad, Dehradun, Una, Pathankot, and Jammu. The monsoon’s first rainfall in Delhi occurred in the early hours of Friday, leading to waterlogging and traffic jams in several parts of the national capital. The Safdarjung weather station recorded 153.7 mm of rainfall, starting around 3 am. Comparing arrival dates, last year the monsoon began on June 26, in 2022 it occurred on June 30, and in 2021 it was on July 13.
