CBI Seizes Sack of Documents from Bengal Education Department in School Job Case admin, June 28, 2024 The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recovered a sack full of paper documents from the office of the West Bengal Education Department in northern Kolkata on Friday afternoon. Officials did not disclose the nature of the seized documents but sources indicated that they could provide crucial leads in a multi-crore cash-for-school job case. The seizure of the documents occurred after the CBI conducted raid and search operations on Wednesday and Thursday at Bikash Bhavan in the Salt Lake area. This was not the first time that the CBI had visited Bikash Bhavan. In January, the CBI interrogated top officials of the department and seized documents related to the case. The agency has recently started investigating teachers from some state-run schools suspected of acting as middlemen in the case. These teachers and non-teaching staff, totaling 11 and 2 respectively, are currently under the scrutiny of the central agency officials. Their names emerged during the interrogation of candidates who were suspected of obtaining appointments through the chain of middlemen by paying hefty amounts. In the last couple of months, the investigation revealed 35 new middlemen names. *(This story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed. )* Kolkata Education Department Corruption Scandal
