Watch: Delhi Minister Atishi’s Bungalow and Lane Outside Flooded by Record June Rain admin, June 28, 2024 AAP Minister Atishi’s residence in the high-end Lutyens area witnessed a scene of staff members clearing water from the property and draining it onto already flooded roads after the national capital experienced the highest 24-hour rainfall in 88 years. Water had even entered the security kiosk outside the minister’s bungalow. Atishi and her colleague Saurabh Bharadwaj held a press conference to discuss the steps taken by the AAP government to address the waterlogging issue in the city. They highlighted the emergency meeting chaired by four Delhi government ministers, where important decisions were made to tackle the situation. Departments are collaborating and mobilizing resources to mitigate the impact of the heavy rainfall. The Traffic Police and local representatives have been instructed to identify vulnerable areas for waterlogging, and the Chief Secretaries are tasked with reviewing the list of all departments to address inter-departmental issues. Delhi experienced nearly 230 mm of rainfall, causing flooding, traffic disruptions, and the collapse of a portion of the Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 departure complex, resulting in one fatality and six injuries. Terminal 1’s domestic flight operations were suspended until midnight, as announced by the civil aviation ministry. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted the monsoon’s arrival in Delhi by the week’s end, compared to last year’s arrival on June 26th. Delhi Governance and Weather Management
