The final match of T20 World Cup 2024 saw India defeating South Africa by seven runs at the Kensington Oval, Barbados after 11 years. The win was celebrated on social media with congratulatory messages and celebratory images. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu both congratulated the Indian Cricket Team, praising their style and “never-say-die” spirit.

The Uttar Pradesh police also joined in, adding a humorous twist to the praise. Following the victory, two of India’s greatest cricketers, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, announced their T20I retirements. Kohli made his announcement shortly after the historic triumph, while Rohit Sharma revealed it in the official post-match press conference.

The final match against South Africa was intense, with India defending a target of 176 runs. The South African team seemed to have the upper hand, needing 30 runs from the last 30 deliveries. However, India’s bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh, remained composed in the critical moments.

Pandya, in particular, delivered a standout performance in the final over, successfully defending 16 runs and securing a dramatic seven-run victory for India.
