Mother and Daughter Die from Ingesting Insecticide Due to 2.5 Lakh Loan in Uttar Pradesh

A tragic incident occurred in Arai village, where a woman named Suman Tiwari and her daughter, Komal, consumed insecticide tablets at their home. The 18-year-old son also consumed the insecticide and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Despite being rushed to a hospital in Prayagraj district, Suman and Komal did not survive. Reports from the police indicated that Suman’s husband, Sunil Tiwari, is mentally challenged, and the family faced financial difficulties.

They had borrowed a significant amount of money, and the pressure to repay the loan led to frequent visits from creditors. Suman’s elder son, Yuvraj, struggled to meet the repayment demands, adding to the family’s distress.

Ongoing property disputes within the family fueled tensions, leading to arguments between Suman, her mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. This escalated on the morning in question, resulting in Suman consuming insecticide and also giving it to her daughter and son Golu, who is hospitalized.

The bodies of Suman and Komal have been returned to their village, and the police are investigating the situation. Following a complaint lodged by Suman’s brother, a case was registered against her mother-in-law and sister-in-law under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC.
