Chandrababu Naidu requests meeting with Revanth Reddy to talk about post-bifurcation concerns.

The recent meeting between the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has generated significant interest and speculation within political circles. The two leaders have a long-standing relationship, and there is anticipation about potential collaborative projects between their respective states.

In a letter to the Telangana Chief Minister, Mr. Naidu emphasized the need to address issues arising from the Reorganization Act, proposing a face-to-face meeting to comprehensively discuss critical matters and work towards mutually beneficial solutions for both states. The separation of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh has presented challenges for the latter, particularly as the 10-year transition period for sharing Hyderabad as a joint capital comes to an end.

Notably, Andhra Pradesh is yet to establish a state capital, with Mr. Naidu’s Amaravati project remaining at a standstill for the past five years. The political landscape has also shifted, providing an opportunity for Mr. Naidu to expand his influence in Telangana, while creating a potentially uncomfortable situation for Mr. Reddy.

Despite the political complexities, the two leaders have a history of close acquaintance, with Mr. Reddy previously being associated with the Telugu Desam Party before joining the Congress. Mr. Reddy’s interactions across party lines have been noted, including his recent meetings with BJP leaders and his affable treatment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He has emphasized the importance of cultivating friendly relations with leaders from various parties to benefit his state’s development.
