Cause of Deadly Stampede in Uttar Pradesh: 250,000 Attend Bhole Baba Satsang, Lack of Preparation and Dust Stir.

A tragic incident occured during a gathering addressed by self-styled godman Suraj Pal, resulting in a stampede that led to the deaths of numerous individuals. The event’s organisers had sought permission for a gathering of 80,000 people, but a crowd of over 2.5 lakh turned up, overwhelming the inadequate police force. Eyewitnesses and the FIR have indicated that the godman’s aides, known as sevadars, played a role in trying to control the crowd, but their efforts led to the disastrous outcome as people fell on each other in the rush to collect dust from the car of the godman. The FIR also accuses the organisers of concealing the true number of attendees and failing to meet traffic management conditions, ultimately causing the stampede.

The state government has promised a thorough investigation and appropriate punishment for those responsible, though no arrests have been made yet. Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has emphasized the need to learn from the tragedy to prevent such incidents in the future. State police chief Prashant Kumar has stated that the investigation is ongoing and actions will be determined by the facts that emerge.
