Supreme Court to Announce Verdict on Arvind Kejriwal’s Plea Against Probe Agency’s Arrest Today admin, July 11, 2024 The chief minister has been embroiled in legal disputes, including an arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of money laundering. The case has progressed through various legal stages, and the Supreme Court is now set to announce its judgment, following a bench reservation on May 17. Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief, has challenged his arrest in the money laundering case, contesting a previous decision by the Delhi High Court that upheld the legality of his arrest. The High Court had stated that the ED had limited options after Kejriwal repeatedly ignored summonses and refused to participate in the investigation. Following his arrest on March 21, Kejriwal was granted bail by a trial court in June. However, the ED appealed this decision, leading to an interim stay by the High Court on the trial court’s bail order until a further ruling. In addition to the money laundering case, Kejriwal also faced arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with alleged corruption regarding the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which has since been canceled.
