Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi assesses security conditions on China border and in Manipur admin, July 12, 2024 The Army Chief General recently visited the China border in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim to review the security situation. During his two-day tour of the Eastern Army Command, he visited all Corps formations, including the 3 Corps headquartered in Dimapur, where he was briefed on the situation in Manipur, which has experienced significant ethnic violence in the past year. Additionally, the Chief visited the Gajraj 4 Corps in Tezpur and was briefed on the current situation on the Line of Actual Control with China, as well as the operational preparedness there. He also reviewed ongoing infrastructure development projects in Sikkim during his visit to the 33 Corps headquarters in Sukna. The 3 Corps is responsible for overseeing the Rest of Arunachal Pradesh area, while the 4 Corps is in charge of the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh. The 33 Corps, with its fighting formations in Sikkim and West Bengal, is tasked with overseeing the LAC in Sikkim, among other responsibilities. Accompanying the Army Chief during the visit was the Eastern Army Commander, Lt Gen. RC Tewari. This visit marked Gen Dwivedi’s first trip to the northeast since assuming the role of Chief of Army Staff on June 30.
