Karnataka Government Establishes Commission to Investigate Mysuru Land Scam admin, July 14, 2024 The BJP staged a demonstration in Mysuru on Friday over a recent matter. According to the order, High Court judge (retd) Justice P N Desai will lead a single-member commission. The commission must complete the inquiry and submit its report to the state government within six months. The order also stated that the departments concerned and MUDA officials must cooperate with the investigation by providing necessary documents and information to Justice Desai. The government passed the order late Sunday night ahead of the Legislature session, which is set to commence on July 15 and conclude on July 26. The alleged scam gained attention after the BJP claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, was one of the beneficiaries of alternative sites (plots). However, Siddaramaiah denied the allegation, stating that MUDA “illegally” took over the four acres of land belonging to his wife and formed a layout without her permission. The CM added that MUDA compensated them by providing alternative plots. The BJP has expressed doubts about the claim, questioning how MUDA could touch such a “high profile” property. The party estimates the size of the scam to be around Rs 3,000 crore. Following their demonstration in Mysuru, the story was published from a syndicated feed and has not been edited by NDTV staff.
