Karnataka Government Establishes Inquiry Commission for Mysuru Land Scam admin, July 14, 2024 The BJP staged a demonstration in Mysuru on Friday over a matter related to the appointment of the head of a single-member commission. The High Court judge (retd) Justice P N Desai will lead the commission, which has been tasked with completing an inquiry and submitting its report to the state government within six months. The order states that the departments concerned and MUDA officials must cooperate with the investigation by providing necessary documents and information to Justice Desai. The order was passed late Sunday night ahead of the Legislature session, which is scheduled to begin on July 15 and end on July 26. The scam gained momentum after the BJP alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi was among the beneficiaries of alternative sites (plots). In response, Siddaramaiah denied the allegation and claimed that MUDA had “illegally” taken over his wife’s four-acre land and formed a layout without her permission. He stated that MUDA compensated them by providing alternative plots. The BJP has expressed doubts about the claim, questioning how MUDA could have dealt with such a “high profile” property. The party has estimated the size of the scam to be around Rs 3,000 crore. In addition to the demonstration in Mysuru, the BJP has raised concerns about the matter. *(Please note: “Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed. )* Mysuru
