He stressed that this was essential for the comprehensive accomplishment of their work. Recognizing the critical role of food safety in citizen’s well-being, Mr Nadda urged FSSAI to raise awareness among consumers, industry, and stakeholders on regulatory issues and behavior change for promoting healthy eating habits. He emphasized that while regulatory issues are essential, the objective of food safety can only be achieved through effective communication and sensitization of consumers. Mr Nadda also highlighted the diverse dietary habits and preferences across different regions of India and urged FSSAI to understand and address these variations in behavior. He acknowledged the progress made by FSSAI since his last visit in 2016 and commended the organization for its remarkable advancements in strengthening the food safety ecosystem, fostering behavioral change, and sensitizing stakeholders. Additionally, Mr Nadda praised FSSAI’s leadership in areas such as millets and CODEX standards, and appreciated its initiatives to train and equip street vendors, emphasizing the significance of empowering consumers. He emphasized the crucial responsibility of FSSAI in ensuring food safety standards, urging them to aspire to become global leaders in this area.
