Indian YouTuber Forces Scooter Lift, Travels Without Ticket on Chinese Bus, Sparks Online Outcry

A well-known Indian vlogger, Jyoti Malhotra, has faced criticism for her behavior during a visit to China. She encountered backlash for her actions in a series of videos she posted while in the country. Many viewers labeled her as “rude,” “mannerless,” and “disrespectful” to the laws and cultures of China.

In one incident, she asked a fellow traveler to swap his window seat for her middle seat on a train. Additionally, she attempted to persuade a woman for a ride across a junction, disregarding the fact that she was traveling in the opposite direction. The situation escalated to the point where the woman sought assistance from a police officer due to the language barrier, as the vlogger was speaking in Hindi while the locals communicated in Chinese.

The footage also depicted her boarding a bus without purchasing a ticket, arguing with the driver about a stop, and making insensitive remarks about locals’ height and cell phones. Her comments reflected a lack of understanding and sensitivity towards the local culture, and she also criticized the use of Chinese language for communication. A video compiling these incidents garnered over 1.6 million views on social media, along with numerous critical comments from users who condemned her behavior and attitude.

The criticism ranged from calling for travel restrictions to expressing embarrassment over her actions. In response, the vlogger issued a statement in the comments section, attributing the misunderstandings to language barriers and miscommunication, expressing regret for unintentionally offending anyone, and committing to improving her communication in future videos.
