Supreme Court Registry To Be Closed on 2nd and 4th Saturdays: Chief Justice Of India DY Chandrachud’s Announcement

The entire auditorium stood up and clapped, but the Chief Justice Of India said there’s a catch. Over 2,000 people work in the country’s top court’s registry.

The Chief Justice announced that it would be implemented from August 1, and added that “many employees have to come from off places, everyone will get left on the second and fourth Saturdays.” During the off days, the Chief Justice emphasized the importance of taking care of the family and finding time for oneself, suggesting activities like yoga, cycling, and meditation.

At the prize distribution ceremony, the Chief Justice made a lighthearted comment about how the Supreme Court registry also had a player named Rohit Sharma, India’s T-20 World Cup Winning Captain, leading one of the cricket teams. The Chief Justice presented an award to the captain.

The event also saw the participation of employees with disabilities in several events for the first time. It was noted that men participated enthusiastically in ‘Antakshari’ and cooking, while women excelled in cricket, football marathon, and more.

The ceremony was attended by CJI Chandrachud, Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, Justice Suryakant, Justice PS Narasimha, Justice KV Vishwanathan, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, and Justice PB Varale.
