Five Additional Suspected Chandipura Virus Cases Reported in Gujarat admin, July 18, 2024 According to officials, 14 people suspected of being infected with the virus were admitted to Sabarkantha Civil Hospital. The District Health Officer, Raj Sutariya, confirmed that out of the 14 cases, 6 people have died, and 7 cases are under treatment at Himmatnagar Hospital. The National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune confirmed the first fatality of a four-year-old girl who had contracted the Chandipura virus in Gujarat. In the past 24 hours, five children were found suspected of Chandipura virus in Himmatnagar, with 6 children under treatment in Himmatnagar Civil for the suspected infection. Several districts in Gujarat have reported suspected cases of Chandipura virus infection, with three deaths reported in the Aravalli district and one case reported in the Kheda district.
