In India, SpiceJet has acknowledged experiencing “technical challenges” that have impacted online ticket bookings and check-in procedures, prompting them to advise passengers to arrive at the airport earlier than usual. Similar messages have been issued by new airline Akasa Air and industry veterans IndiGo.

Flight services at Chennai and Mumbai airports have also reportedly been affected. Beyond India, Australia’s Virgin Australia has acknowledged a large-scale IT outage affecting airlines and other businesses, with reports of grounded flights in Australia and the United States.

Airports in Sydney and Melbourne have cited a “global technology issue,” activating contingency plans. Reuters has reported disruptions at the airport in Berlin, and Spanish airport operators have confirmed an “incident” at their facilities.

The tech problem has also affected banks and financial services, with reports of minor problems at the London Stock Exchange and the United Kingdom’s Sky News network being off air. It is evident that this widespread tech issue has impacted various sectors, causing disruptions across different regions.
