US Ambassador tours Adani’s Khavda Project site in Gujarat admin, July 18, 2024 US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti recently visited Adani group’s Khavda renewable energy project. He emphasized the importance of sustainable energy in environmental stewardship and highlighted the bilateral partnership between the US and India in shaping cleaner and greener solutions for the future. During his visit, Mr. Garcetti shared his insights and posted pictures of the project. Adani Green Energy Ltd is developing the world’s largest renewable energy project, with a capacity of 30,000 MW, on barren land in Kutch, Gujarat. The project spans 538 square kilometers, which is five times the size of Paris and nearly as large as Mumbai city. The company has already operationalized 2,000 MW of solar capacity, equivalent to 6% of the planned 30,000 MW, within 12 months of commencing work. The entire project is scheduled for completion by 2030. Following Mr. Garcetti’s visit, Group chairman Gautam Adani expressed gratitude to the US Ambassador and emphasized the valuable insights gained during his visit. This event occurred in the context of US short-seller Hindenburg Research’s allegations of corporate fraud and stock manipulation at Adani Group, which the Group has consistently denied. In addition to its domestic projects, Adani Group has been engaged in strategic infrastructure initiatives beyond India’s borders, often competing directly with China. Its acquisition of Haifa port in Israel, outbidding Chinese interests, showcased its expanding global influence amidst Chinese competition. These developments occurred around the time when Hindenburg published its report on Adani Group, leading to allegations of involvement by individuals with Chinese links. Adani Group, known for its infrastructure projects in ports and power, has been active in various regions across the globe, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and Myanmar. The group has also received approval to construct a port in Vietnam. It’s noteworthy that this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed. Adani Green Energy Ltd
