Air India Provides Full Refund of Fares as Mumbai Flights Disrupted by Heavy Rain

Air India is offering full refunds or a one-time complimentary rescheduling for bookings confirmed for travel on Sunday, due to heavy rains in Mumbai affecting flight operations and resulting in the cancellation and diversion of some flights. The airline has provided a link for checking the flight status before heading to the airport and advised people to connect with their contact center for further assistance.

Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rains for the past couple of weeks. The Mumbai Police issued an advisory asking citizens to avoid going out in coastal areas due to the heavy rainfall.

Residents were urged to leave their homes only if necessary and take precautions, with an emergency contact number provided as well. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Mumbai, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation also advised people to avoid going out unless necessary. Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region also received an orange alert.

Waterlogging and traffic snarls have been reported in several roads in Mumbai due to the heavy rains.
