Migrant Worker Discovered Living in Dog Kennel for Rent in Kerala, Investigation Initiated

Labour Minister V Sivankutty has instructed the labour commissioner to submit a report on an incident involving a migrant worker from West Bengal. According to the minister’s office, the Labour Commissioner has been directed to conduct an inquiry into the matter and provide a report. The incident in question involves a migrant worker who was reportedly found living in an old kennel that had been converted into a room on the premises of a house owned by a resident of Piravom in Ernakulam district.

The worker had been residing in the kennel for the past three months, paying a monthly rent of Rs 500. Following media reports on the matter, the police visited the location and took the worker for a medical examination. However, it was reported that no further action was taken as the worker expressed a preference to stay in the kennel of his own free will.
