Dalit Man in Madhya Pradesh Claims Police Beat Him for Overtaking Vehicle

The complainant, Rohit Valmiki, alleged that on July 18, he overtook vehicles belonging to the police and electricity departments while riding his motorcycle home. He claimed that some police personnel accused him of reckless driving, verbally abused him, and subsequently took him to a police station where he was allegedly thrashed. Mr. Valmiki’s brother made these allegations in a complaint dated July 20. The Superintendent of Police, Agam Jain, stated that the Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) is currently investigating the matter.
