Families of Soldiers Tribute Fallen 1999 Kargil War Heroes

Tributes are being paid to the soldiers who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War, as the nation commemorates the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Subedar Major (Honorary Capt) Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retd.) emphasized the pride of the nation in the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

He highlighted the gathering at the Drass memorial to pay homage to these brave soldiers. Similarly, Subedar Major RT Rais Ahmed reflected on the strength and dedication of the Indian Army, remembering the soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. As the Armed Forces prepare for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, there is anticipation that it will raise their morale.

Veteran Chief Petty Officer Radio IND Navy Anant Joshi expressed the significance of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, honoring the 527 individuals who sacrificed their lives for the country. He emphasized the importance of learning from the sacrifices made by these young heroes. Eshanika, daughter of an Army officer, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and expressed her admiration for him as a role model.

Tashi Namgyal, the individual who was among the first to spot Pakistani intruders during the war, recounted his role in reporting the incident to the forces. As preparations are made for the Prime Minister’s visit to the Kargil War Memorial, security measures have been heightened. The occasion serves as a moment to pay tribute and honor the brave individuals who made the supreme sacrifice during the conflict.

The Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, marks the success of Operation Vijay in 1999. It represents the triumph of the Indian forces in reclaiming strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, which had been infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and terrorists. Prime Minister Modi’s visit is anticipated to further commemorate the valor of these fallen heroes.
