Soldier Killed in Action in Fresh Encounter in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani Dead admin, July 26, 2024 The Army revealed that a “Pakistani person” was killed in an encounter, which is believed to have been carried out by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT). The BAT has been previously involved in multiple attacks before the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan in February 2021. A senior officer described the incident as an aggressive action and a clear escalation along the Line of Control (LOC). This occurrence took place a day after ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, during which Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a strong warning to Pakistan and emphasized the Indian Army’s commitment to overcoming any terrorist threats. In a statement, the Army reported an exchange of fire with unidentified individuals in the Kamkari, Macchal Sector on the LOC. The Army did not directly name the Pakistan army or terrorists, but confirmed that one Pakistani person was killed and two Indian soldiers were injured and evacuated. Earlier in the week, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited the LOC in the same area to assess the readiness of the forces to handle infiltration and terrorist attacks. With increasing incidents of terrorism, Prime Minister Modi chaired a review meeting last month to evaluate the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. During this meeting, he spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to gain a comprehensive understanding of the security situation and the counter-terrorism operations being carried out by the armed forces. It was reported that the Prime Minister has directed the authorities to deploy the full range of the armed forces’ counter-terror capabilities. Kargil Vijay Diwas
