Tragedy at Rau’s IAS Study Circle as UPSC aspirants die in Delhi coaching centre flood admin, July 27, 2024 The water flow reportedly broke the basement door at Rau’s IAS Study Circle in West Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar. Three victims, identified as Tania Soni, 25, Shreya Yadav, 25, and 28-year-old Navin Delvin from Kerala, were preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams when the incident occurred. The basement was completely flooded on Saturday evening, prompting a call for help at 7.19 pm. Five fire engines and a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team were dispatched for the rescue operation. Two female students’ bodies were recovered first, with the third student’s body being found later into the night. Investigators found that the coaching centre was built on a slope, contributing to the swift influx of water during heavy rain. The force of the water also broke the basement door, hindering the rescue operation. In a tragic coincidence, this incident occurred shortly after a UPSC aspirant was electrocuted in Patel Nagar, also in West Delhi, while trying to cross a waterlogged street. Rau's IAS Study Circle
