PM Narendra Modi Gives Shoutout to Anurag Thakur Amid Row Over House Speech

The Prime Minister praised a speech by Shri @ianuragthakur, a five-time MP representing Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, for its combination of facts and humor that exposed the alleged dirty politics of the INDI Alliance. During the debate on Budget 2024, Mr. Thakur took a dig at Mr. Gandhi’s comments on Mahabharata, referring to some individuals as “accidental Hindus” with a coincidental understanding of the epic.

He also made a comment related to Mr. Gandhi’s caste while questioning the Opposition’s call for a nationwide caste Census, provoking strong reactions from the Opposition. This resulted in a sharp exchange between Mr. Thakur and Kannauj MP and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Their previous clash during Mr. Yadav’s Budget speech was also noted, with Mr. Thakur asserting his military background after comments from Mr. Yadav. Rahul Gandhi responded to Anurag Thakur’s personal attack, requesting an opportunity to address the insults he received.

Mr. Gandhi emphasized the opposition’s determination to ensure the passage of the Bill on Caste Census in Parliament despite the insults.
