In Bharuch district, the ATS confiscated liquid Tramadol worth Rs 31 crore from a pharmaceutical factory. The agency arrested four individuals involved in the production and distribution of banned narcotic substances under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sunil Joshi, provided details of the operations and arrests. In a separate raid in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra, the ATS apprehended Mohammad Yunus Shaikh and Mohammad Adil Shaikh with nearly 800 kilograms of mephedrone (MD drug) in liquid form worth Rs 800 crore in the international market. The brothers had rented an apartment to manufacture the drug using various chemicals. The ATS had previously busted a mephedrone manufacturing unit in Surat and seized drugs and raw materials worth Rs 51.4 crore, leading to the arrest of three individuals. Further interrogation revealed connections to the Shaikh brothers in Maharashtra. Additionally, the agency raided a pharmaceutical unit in Dahej industrial area of Bharuch district and arrested two individuals with liquid Tramadol worth Rs 31 crore. The arrested persons were identified as Pankaj Rajput and Nikhil Kapuria. Investigations revealed their involvement in the production and distribution of Tramadol. The enforcement authorities also intercepted 68 lakh Tramadol tablets worth Rs 110 crore at Mundra port in Gujarat’s Kutch district, destined for West African countries, Sierra Leone and Niger. Suspects associated with the seized tablets confirmed their involvement in the drug production and export.
