Indian Navy Chief Dinesh K Tripathi Discusses Agniveers, Agnipath Scheme admin, August 9, 2024 In 2022, Tripathi, the former Chief of Personnel, recognized the success of the Agnipath scheme, which had recently seen its fourth batch graduate from the premier training establishment, INS Chilka. The scheme had been effective, with over 2,500 Agniveers trained in the first three batches. Tripathi highlighted the inclusion of nearly 1,429 Agniveers in the latest batch, of which around 300 were women. He expressed confidence in their integration into the Indian Navy, describing them as highly motivated and enthusiastic. The passing out parade of the fourth Agniveer batch took place at INS Chilka, encompassing academic instruction, naval service aspects, and outdoor training rooted in the core values of duty, honor, and courage. Those accepted under the scheme are referred to as ‘Agniveers.’ The government announced that there would be job opportunities and support for those not retained in the defense forces after four years. Around 25 percent of Agniveers will continue as regular cadres in the Indian Armed Forces for a minimum of 15 years, while the others will receive assistance in finding further employment. An exit package of Rs 11.71 lakhs will be provided, exempt from Income Tax, however, without pension benefits. This article has not been edited by NDTV staff and is sourced from a syndicated feed.
