Pakistan Pushes Highly Trained Foreign Terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir: Lt Governor Manoj Sinha admin, August 11, 2024 On Saturday, two soldiers and a civilian were killed during an encounter involving terrorists and security forces in Anantnag, south Kashmir. The Jammu region, previously known for its peaceful atmosphere, has witnessed a surge in terror incidents, particularly in the border districts. Recent attacks on an IAF convoy, a pilgrim bus, and the killing of soldiers in Kathua highlight the evolving threat. In an interview with PTI in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor expressed confidence in a “big change in the situation in the next three months”. He acknowledged the recent terror incidents and reassured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that efforts were being made to control and counteract them. The Lt Governor indicated that a strategy had been formulated, with redeployment of forces initiated and increased deployment of army, CRPF, and police personnel in the region to tackle the terror incidents. The Lt Governor also emphasized that India and the Jammu and Kashmir administration are making concerted efforts to counter the threat, with support from other countries. He addressed concerns about Pakistan’s involvement in fomenting trouble in the region, highlighting India’s successes and increased international support. On the issue of infiltration, the Lt Governor mentioned that the security grid was being strengthened and strategies implemented, aiming to bring about a complete change in the situation. He indicated that the territory was a sensitive issue and that disclosing everything publicly was not necessary. He also remarked on the decline of local recruitment by terror groups and attempts by the neighboring country to worsen the situation by infiltrating terrorists in the region. The Lt Governor recalled the security deployments during the peak of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized that while the situation had improved over the past 15 to 16 years, the neighboring country continued to destabilize the region.
