BJP Dominates Panchayat Polls In Tripura

The results of the elections for all 17 Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Panchayat Seats were declared, with the BJP performing strongly and winning several wards. In the West Tripura district, BJP emerged victorious in all seats except for one or two in the Dukli Rural Development Block, where the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) secured wins. Dr. Vishal Kumar, the District Election Officer of West Tripura, highlighted the dominant performance of the BJP, stating that the overall outcome was a resounding triumph for the party.

He also mentioned that the counting is ongoing in Unakoti district and North Tripura district, with results expected soon. Reports available to Kumar indicated that BJP candidates had won by significant margins in other districts, with CPI (M) candidates winning only in some areas of Ambassa district. The State Election Commission (SEC) reported a voter turnout of 79.06% until 4 pm on polling day.

Earlier, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha had expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory in the three-tier panchayat elections. He had also visited Mata Tripuri Temple and offered prayers on the last day of nomination submission, demonstrating his commitment to the state’s development and the welfare of its youth. Saha had instructed officials to expedite the release of pending job offers, with approximately 10,000 job offers, including positions in the Tripura Police, Junior Recruitment Board Tripura (JRBT), and Special Executives, to be released following the panchayat polls.
