Kolkata Doctor called mother to eat hours before rape-murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital

The incident involved a group of doctors who were on night duty. During their break, they watched Neeraj Chopra’s performance while eating together.

A female doctor called her mother after dinner and decided to stay in the seminar hall to study. It is reported that she fell asleep at some point.

The accused, Sanjoy Roy, was captured on CCTV entering the Emergency building around 4 am, where the victim was located. Her body was discovered at 7.30 am the following day, showing signs of injury in various parts.

The police are now investigating the doctor’s four colleagues who were on duty that night and are not ruling out the involvement of others in the crime. Commissioner of Police Vineet Goyal announced initiatives for anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the determination to make more arrests if necessary.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed concern and urged the police to make speedy arrests, mentioning the potential involvement of an insider. She threatened to hand over the case to the CBI if the police did not make progress by a certain deadline.

The accused was identified through CCTV footage and a Bluetooth headset found at the crime scene.
