Odisha Man Dies by Suicide Due to Mobile Game Addiction and Debt Repayment Failure admin, August 12, 2024 A 22-year-old man, Srinivasa Nayak, allegedly died by suicide after failing to repay loans. The incident occurred in Kadubani village under the jurisdiction of the Kaliapani police station. According to a police officer, Nayak was an online gamer who suffered significant financial losses. He had dinner with his family before retiring to his bedroom on Sunday night. When he did not wake up the next morning, family members became concerned and found his body hanging from the ceiling after breaking open the door to his room. Nayak, who was the only son of Brajabandhu Nayak, had reportedly incurred financial losses while playing online games on his mobile phone. To cope with these losses, he had taken loans from various self-help groups in the village through his mother. The pressure from moneylenders to repay the debts allegedly led Nayak to take the drastic step of ending his own life. The police later recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. An investigation was initiated to determine the circumstances that led to Nayak’s suicide. A senior police officer stated that they are examining his bank records to gain further insight into the reasons behind his decision. *This story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed. * Srinivasa Nayak
