KTR Apologizes Unconditionally for Controversial Remarks About Women

KTR recently issued an apology on the social media platform X following a speech he delivered to party workers. During the speech, he commented on women using the state’s free bus travel scheme, suggesting that they could engage in activities such as “break dances” and knitting while on the bus, as long as it was safe.

These remarks gained significant attention on social media, leading to an inquiry by the Telangana State Women’s Commission (TSCW). One of the Telangana Ministers, Danasari Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, criticized KTR’s comments, questioning his respect for women and emphasizing the multi-faceted roles women play outside of their homes.

The comments sparked widespread criticism from women’s rights activists, political opponents, and the general public. In response to the backlash, KTR posted an apology on the social media platform X, expressing regret if his words had caused any harm and stating that he never intended to offend women.

The Telangana State Women’s Commission, led by Chairperson Sharada Nerella, also took note of the situation and announced their own inquiry, observing that KTR’s remarks had led to widespread discontent and hurt within the community.
