Kashmir’s Baramulla Struck by Consecutive 4.9 Magnitude Earthquakes

A recent earthquake in the Kashmir Valley led to no loss of life or property damage, as per reports. The first earthquake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, struck at 6:45 a.m. with its epicenter in Baramulla district. It had a depth of 5 km.

The second earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.8, occurred at 6:52 a.m. in the same district at a depth of 10 km. Despite causing widespread panic, there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. The Kashmir Valley, situated in an earthquake-prone region, has had previous devastating earthquakes, such as the 2005 earthquake that caused significant loss of life.
