Suhail Bukhari resigns from PDP ahead of J&K polls, Mehbooba Mufti’s party faces setback

Suhail Bukhari, the chief spokesperson of the PDP, has announced his resignation from the party ahead of the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed his decision to quit but did not provide further details. It appears that Suhail Bukhari’s decision was influenced by his disappointment at not being chosen as a candidate for the forthcoming elections. He had aspired to contest from Wagoora-Kreeri; however, the rejoining of former minister Basharat Bukhari last month reduced his prospects of receiving the party ticket.

Suhail Bukhari, a journalist turned politician, had a close association with PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and had also served as her advisor during her tenure as chief minister. This development signifies a significant shift within the PDP ahead of the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
