Body of Girl Discovered in Kolhapur Following Thane Incident, Suspected Sexual Assault

The police suspect that the girl was sexually assaulted before being murdered. According to news agency PTI, the girl left her house yesterday evening after having a fight with her uncle about her excessive phone usage. When she did not return home for a long time, her parents initiated a frantic search.

Later on, the minor’s body was found in a field by locals just 800 meters away from her home in Shiye village under Karvir taluka. Upon receiving the information, the police and a medical team arrived at the spot. The police stated that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and further probe is underway.

The in-charge of the Shiroli MIDC Police Station, Pankaj Giri, informed IANS that three to four suspects have been detained for questioning and the authorities are awaiting the autopsy report before commenting further. The girl’s parents work in an industrial unit in the Shiroli MIDC area, according to the police. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the culprits will face strict action and the state government will offer all possible help to the girl’s family.

Fadnavis mentioned that the girl’s family is from Bihar and the uncle allegedly beat her up on Wednesday afternoon, prompting her to leave home. The local police station received a missing person complaint around 10 pm on Wednesday. The Deputy Chief Minister declared, “We will go to the bottom of this case and the perpetrators will face strict action.

We will provide all possible help to the family.” The incident occurred shortly after two kindergarten students were sexually abused by a male attendant at a school in Thane, sparking massive protests in Badlapur town. This resulted in significant public outrage, as angry parents, local residents, and others blocked railway tracks and ransacked the school.

A 23-year-old school janitor was arrested in the Badlapur case, and three cops involved in making the parents wait 11 hours to file a police case were suspended.
