Delhi Police Captures Accused of Robbery and Murder Who Skipped Bail During Covid Outbreak admin, August 23, 2024 A team from the Delhi Police tracked down Vinod Sahani, a fugitive, to Bihar’s Muzaffarpur. Sahani had been evading arrest since he was granted bail during the Covid pandemic. He is an accused in a robbery and murder case dating back to June 16, 2016, where five robbers entered a farmhouse at DLF Chattarpur in south Delhi, stole valuables, and killed a 39-year-old businessman, Rohan Gupta, when he tried to resist them. The accused were caught when they attempted to escape after a neighbor alerted the police upon hearing noises from the farmhouse. They were charged under multiple sections, including those relating to murder and robbery. After the bail period ended, Sahani did not return to jail and was declared a Proclaimed Offender in December 2022. The Anti-Robbery and Snatching Cell of Delhi Police Crime Branch was tasked with tracking him down. Informers were asked to keep watch, and the police received information that Sahani would step out of his hideout and travel on the highway. The team eventually apprehended him. During questioning, Sahani revealed that he had been living in a shack and working as a driver to earn a living. He also has another Arms Act case against him. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Amit Goel, commended the team for their efforts in tracking down the fugitive and emphasized the police department’s commitment to ensuring that those who try to evade the law will eventually face justice.
