It was reported that Mansi had visited Manikant’s home on the occasion of Rakshabandhan and did not return. Consequently, her father, Ramsagar Pandey, filed a police case against Manikant, accusing him of taking his daughter away. Following this, Manikant was taken into custody by the police and was subjected to questioning. The District Police Chief Neeraj Kumar Jadaun disclosed that during the interrogation, the accused admitted to being in an affair with Mansi for two years. He claimed that Mansi informed him of her desire to marry someone else, leading to his alleged act of choking her to death. The police also mentioned that Manikant threw Mansi’s phone in a moving bus as a part of his attempt to mislead the authorities. The police confirmed the recovery of the body from the underconstruction building and mentioned that it was sent for post-mortem examination. Ramsagar Pandey, the victim’s father, revealed that he dropped off Mansi at Manikant’s home and was later informed by Manikant of her disappearance. Consequently, the father filed a complaint against Manikant, suspecting his involvement.
