Darshan, a Kannada actor, is accused of murder and is receiving special treatment in jail. Viral photo ignites controversy.

Actor Darshan, wearing a grey t-shirt, is pictured in a viral photo, surrounded by a joyful atmosphere. The image, purported to show popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is currently in judicial custody for a murder case, has been circulating widely. However, NDTV cannot independently verify its authenticity. In the photo, Darshan is seated with three other men on plastic chairs in an open area with a grassy patch of land.

The men appear to be looking into the distance, and a hint of a smile is visible on their faces. To Darshan’s right are gangster Wilson Garden Naga, fellow inmate Nagaraj (Darshan’s manager and co-accused), and Kulla Seena. This image has raised questions regarding the potential special facilities being provided to Darshan and his companions inside the jail. There are doubts whether the conditions depicted in the photo align with the standard treatment of prisoners.

As a result, jail authorities have been asked to conduct an inquiry into the matter. In response to the photo, Kashinath S Shivanagowdru, Renukaswamy’s father, has demanded a CBI probe and punishment for those involved. He expressed surprise and concern, stating that it appears as if Darshan is enjoying a resort-like setting in jail, which contrasts with the expected environment for a prisoner. He emphasized the need for Darshan to be treated like other normal prisoners.

A total of 17 people, including Darshan and his friend Pavithra Gowda, are in judicial custody in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy. Police sources indicate that the murder was allegedly triggered by obscene messages sent by Renukaswamy to Gowda, which angered Darshan. Renukaswamy’s body was discovered near a stormwater drain next to an apartment in Sumanahalli on June 9.
