Congress Announces First List of 9 Candidates for Jammu and Kashmir Polls

The Congress issued its first list of nine candidates for the upcoming three-phase assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This announcement came following a seat-sharing agreement with ally National Conference (NC). As per the agreement, the NC will contest 51 seats and the Congress will contest 32 seats in the assembly polls.

Additionally, one seat each has been allotted to the CPI(M) and the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP), as announced at a joint press conference at NC president Farooq Abdullah’s residence in Srinagar after day-long negotiations. The allies also stated that there will be a “friendly contest” on five seats in the Union territory. Following this announcement, the Congress revealed its list of nine candidates for the polls, with key candidates including Mir from Dooru, Wani from Banihal, Surinder Singh Channi from the Tral seat, and others.
