Nursing Intern Assaulted in Maharashtra, Auto Driver Drugged Her Drink

The victim in the incident had taken an auto-rickshaw ride home, during which the driver offered her drinking water. It was later revealed that the water had been spiked, causing the teenager to lose consciousness.

Allegedly, the driver then took her to a deserted place and sexually assaulted her. After regaining consciousness, the victim informed her family and filed a police complaint.

An FIR has been registered, and the police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator. The woman is currently recovering at a state-run hospital.

The incident has triggered protests in the locality, with residents blocking a road for several hours to demand prompt action. The occurrence in Ratnagiri has occurred amid widespread nationwide outrage following the appalling rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The doctor was found dead in a seminar hall after being on night duty, and medical examination confirmed sexual assault. There was an arrest made in connection to the case, and the investigation was eventually transferred to the CBI as per the Calcutta High Court’s directive.

In Maharashtra, there is also public outrage over the sexual assault of two minor girls at a school in Badlapur. The police have arrested a school attendant for allegedly abusing the girls.
