BJP Script: Akhilesh Yadav Responds to Kangana Ranaut’s Comments on Farmers’ Protests

The statement, made by Akhilesh Yadav, accused the BJP of scripting an actress’s dialogue and having her read it out. He expressed disbelief that a top director would instruct an actress to deliver abusive language about the farmers’ movement in a farmers’ state. He suggested that the use of such language was designed to deflect blame and protect the top leadership of the BJP. This statement was directed specifically at Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut, who had made disparaging remarks about the farmers’ protests.

She had suggested in an interview that a “Bangladesh-like situation” could have occurred during the protests if not for the strong leadership in India, and made allegations of violence and rape during the protests. Haryana’s upcoming elections have intensified the issue, with the opposition targeting the BJP over Ranaut’s remarks. The BJP, in response, distanced themselves from Ranaut’s views, disagreeing with her and clarifying that she is not authorized to comment on the party’s policy matters. The farmers’ protests against the farm laws, which have since been repealed, drew thousands of participants from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and other regions to Delhi’s borders for several months.

The opposition’s targeting of the BJP over the issue has further escalated the political tension in the region.
