Darshan to Be Moved After Dispute Over VIP Treatment in Bengaluru Jail admin, August 27, 2024 Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, currently in judicial custody for a murder case, is being transferred to Bellary jail following the circulation of a viral picture showing him socializing with three others at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Karnataka. The image has stirred controversy over perceived preferential treatment of the actor, prompting a court in Bengaluru to issue the order for his relocation. This development has also sparked an inquiry by jail authorities. In the photograph, Darshan, sporting a grey t-shirt, is seen holding a cup while interacting with fellow inmates, namely gangster Wilson Garden Naga, and other co-accused Nagaraj (Darshan’s manager) and Kulla Seena. Their expressions suggest a hint of amusement as they seem to be observing something. Meanwhile, the other individuals implicated in the case will be moved to a different correctional facility within Karnataka. Darshan’s girlfriend, Pavitra Gowda, also facing charges in the murder case, will remain in Bangalore jail. Darshan had previously contested a magistrate court’s decision that denied his request for amenities such as home-cooked food, bedding, and cutlery while in prison. The circulating image has raised concerns about whether Darshan and his companions were receiving special privileges inside the correctional facility. This comes against the backdrop of his arrest in June in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, who allegedly sent inappropriate messages to Darshan’s co-star. The victim, a 33-year-old fan of the actor, was found deceased near a stormwater drain close to an apartment in Sumanahalli on June 9. Allegedly, Renukaswamy’s actions had triggered Darshan’s rage, leading to the tragic outcome. Consequently, a total of 17 individuals, including Darshan and his associate Pavithra Gowda, are currently in judicial custody over the incident. The father of the deceased, Kashinath S Shivanagowdru, has called for a CBI investigation and justice for those responsible for the crime. Darshan Thoogudeepa
