According to a police statement, the complaint was filed by Navyashree’s friend, Aishwarya, who stayed over at her place on the night in question. Aishwarya told the police that Navyashree called her on Tuesday morning and expressed distress about her marriage, asking her to come over. Aishwarya arrived at Navyashree’s home in Kengeri, SMV layout, around 4:30 pm on Tuesday. Shortly after, another friend, Anil, joined them, and the three discussed Navyashree’s troubled marriage over dinner. Anil advised Navyashree to file a police complaint against her husband. After dropping Anil off at his home, Navyashree and Aishwarya returned to their place and went to sleep around 11:30 pm. When Aishwarya woke up at 6 am the next morning, she discovered that Navyashree had been strangled to death. Aishwarya immediately called the police to report the incident. The police suspect that Kiran, who had been suspicious of Navyashree, may have entered the house at night using his key and choked her to death.
