Mammootty, Mollywood: No Power Centre Amid #MeToo Row

In the midst of the storm in Mollywood over sexual assault allegations against top actors and directors, legendary actor Mammooty urged the police to conduct a fair investigation. He rejected the notion of a “power centre” in the Malayalam film industry, echoing similar sentiments expressed by fellow actor Mohanlal. Mammooty emphasized that the film industry mirrors the society and its positive and negative aspects.

He applauded the recommendations of the Justice Hema Committee and stressed the importance of a prompt and impartial police investigation, followed by legal judgments. Mammooty also highlighted the actors’ organization’s role in addressing such issues and explained his delayed response as a result of this process.
