27-year-old Noida man dies of altitude sickness during solo bike ride in Ladakh.

A 27-year-old man from Noida, Chinmay Sharma, passed away on August 29 during a solo bike trip to Leh due to oxygen deficiency. He was a digital marketing executive in Noida and the only child of his parents, who are both teachers in Muzzafarnagar.

According to reports, Chinmay began experiencing difficulty in breathing and sought medical attention after his father advised him to rest. Tragically, he passed away during treatment on the same day, just hours before his parents could reach Leh.

The town of Leh is situated at an altitude of 10,000 feet in a high-altitude desert area, and it is recommended to acclimatize for at least three days to prevent high-altitude sickness. High-altitude sickness may occur due to exposure to low oxygen levels and rapid changes in air pressure.

Its symptoms include headache, vomiting, fatigue, shortness of breath, and nausea. There are three types of altitude sickness: Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS), which is the mildest form, High-altitude cerebral edema (HACE), a more severe version of AMS, and High-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE), which can quickly become life-threatening.
